Five Sisters Zoo, is an ever-growing family run business established in 2005, based in West Lothian, Scotland, with over 170 different species.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident, experienced Animal Keeper to join our team. The successful candidate must have previous zoo keeper experience and will be expected to maintain exceptional standards of animal husbandry and welfare.

Experience in working with birds and reptiles would be an advantage but not essential as well as excellent communication skills, customer service and a full clean driving licence.

Working hours are 40 hours per week and will include weekends and bank holidays. Occasional evening work may also be required.

Salary negotiable depending on experience.

Collaborative research by the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, Bristol Zoological Society and the Comorian NGO Dahari has revealed the Livingstone’s fruit bat is likely to be the most endangered fruit bat in the world. 


New data released by WWF and ZSL (Zoological Society of London) today reveals that overall global vertebrate populations are on course to decline by an average of 67 per cent from 1970 levels by the end of this decade, unless urgent action is taken to reduce humanity’s impact on species and ecosystems.
