Marwell Zoo in Hampshire will host the BIAZA Environmental Impact and Sustainability workshop on Oct 3rd and 4th 2018.
Demystifying Plastics – understanding the issues and opportunities for the zoo and aquarium sector

Following on from the highly successful workshop on eliminating unsustainable palm oil this year’s event will examine the impact of plastic, the alternatives, how to reduce single use plastic and how to boost recycling quantity and quality.
The day will be split into a morning session taking a global and industry perspective on plastic and plastic waste and the afternoon hearing from BIAZA members on actions they’ve taken to address their own plastic issues.
The workshop will take place on October 4th with the option for an informal tour of Marwell’s new Tropical house on October 3rd. The tour will be a relaxed walk through some of the new exhibits at Marwell finishing the new Energy For Life : Tropical House with the opportunity to examine and discuss the energy and climate change interpretation, hear about the low embodied carbon building construction, the biomass heating plant and plans for an animal bedding waste heating plant coming in 2019. The tour will start from Coffee Corner in the gift shop at 2pm on Oct 3rd.
