Chair – BIAZA Native Species Working Group

Pre-requisites

  • Must be an employee of a BIAZA full member organisation.
  • Must have institutional and financial support to carry out the role and attend meetings.
  • Must be voted in by the NSWG Steering Group, and then approved by BIAZA Council.

 

Role Summary 
The objectives are to:

  • Ensure that a high quality, efficient and helpful service is provided to support BIAZA members in their work with native species.
  • Manage the operation of the Working Group, implementing and ensuring that efficient and Effective operational procedures are in place, in line with the member role description.
  • Help develop the future direction of the Working Group in line with the relevant BIAZA strategy objectives.
  • To facilitate the Working Group members to effectively and efficiently work as a team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Represent the BIAZA NSWG on all matters related to native species and UK conservation in the UK and Ireland within BIAZA.
  • Attend up to 2 BIAZA Field Programmes Committee meetings each year and report on the work of the NSWG. These meetings are full day meetings held at different member collections (usually ZSL in London).
  • Attend any other meetings as requested by BIAZA.
  • Inform BIAZA office of any meeting dates and locations.
  • Ensure that the Native Species Working Group section of the BIAZA website is kept up to date and organised.
  • Support other BIAZA members where advice is being sought either directly or indirectly through BIAZA.
  • Contribute to other working groups where applicable through advice or representation at meetings. Disseminate applicable information through the appropriate channels.
  • Write the mid-year and annual reports for the activities of the Native Species Working Group and specific Focus Group summaries after obtaining information from the appropriate people (twice yearly) in line with the goals and objectives of BIAZA.
  • Chair the 2 NSWG Committee meetings every year. Help to set up and organise the meetings along with the host. Produce the agenda and any other documentation.
  • Oversee the planning and programming of the NWSG annual conference.
  • Keep in regular contact with the Vice Chair for updates.
