The Black Country and Birmingham has the largest local news interest area outside of London - an area which mainly focuses on international news.
Continuing on the success of our Breaking ZooNooz project which launched in 2011, ZooNooz Everyday is a website based project aimed at engaging with an active news scene. This project consolidates DZG’s online news output, while increasing the quantity, variety and viral extent of DZG’s news presence.
The ZooNooz Everyday project centres on DZG news pages; daily news stories are uploaded to the website, which then filters to press releases and DZG’s Twitter and Facebook feeds. This frequency allows DZG to offer a wider variety of stories than is typical, targeting a range of different audiences and has created a ‘virtual’ Zoo community . These stories are collated in ZooNooz magazine, which is distributed to members, general public, local & national government bodies and press organisations. The website acts as a DZG news library and online archive. This approach has created a reliable , entertaining and informative voice of DZG.
ZooNooz Everyday allows access to a worldwide audience and is used regularly for information by media sources. The consistent daily stories allow the publicity team to explore a variety of aspects of the zoo, and the ease of access to these stories has led to interest in DZG locally, nationally and internationally. The DZG website currently receives an average of approximately 11,000 hits per week an increase of 32% over the last 12 months.
