Get Involved in National Insect Week!
Now in its sixth year and coordinated by the Royal Entomological Society, the week of 23 June - 29 June 2014 will see hundreds of events held across the UK, from bug hunts and bioblitzes to minibeast safaris and moth walks.
The Royal Entomologial Society would like to invite BIAZA members to draw particular attention to their terrestrial invertebrate collections and exhibits during the week to celebrate the “little things that run the world”. There are three things you can do to join in during National Insect Week 2014:
1) Register your exhibits and collections in advance on the NIW website http://nationalinsectweek.co.uk/events/event_submission_form.htm . You do not need to hold special activities but it would be excellent to have terrestrial invertebrate exhibits registered on the NIW database for the public to see. Once you have registered you will receive NIW merchandise for staff and the public during the week.
2) Organise a special activity for National Insect Week and register it separately on the NIW events database. You can browse the list of events that are already registered at http://nationalinsectweek.co.uk/events/welcome.html
3) Include the attached NIW logo and a link to the NIW website on your own webpages (www.nationalinsectweek.co.uk). There is already a link to the BIAZA pages on the NIW website. If you would like any links to your own educational resources included on the NIW site please forward them to [email protected] .
