BIAZA Joins the Friends of Aichi Target12
Aichi Biodiversity Target 12 is one of the 20 Targets developed by the IUCN's Convention on Biological Diversity, aimed at saving biodiversity and enhancing its benefits for people, by 2020.
Target 12 reads:
By 2020 the extinction of known threatened species has been prevented and their conserva-tion status, particularly of those most in decline, has been improved and sustained.
BIAZA has joined a host of other organisations in committing to this Target with the following pledge:
As a friend of Aichi Target 12 BIAZA members will continue to contribute over £10 million per year to field conservation, supporting over 700 field conservation projects annually. Additionally BIAZA pledges to support each of its members in:

Fostering effective relationships with other NGO’s to support Aichi Target 12 aims e.g. BIAZA’s relationship with The World Land Trust
Demonstrating sustainable development and use of their site through membership of a sus-tainable business scheme e.g. ISO14001, ‘Green Tourism’ or David Bellamy Award Scheme
Partaking in at least one form of ecological survey on their site each year in order to contrib-ute data to national databases run by external conservation organisations
Building relationships with their MPs and councils and taking part in conservation policy dis-cussion
Publishing research and findings wherever possible
