ZSL Special Children's Day 2012
Making the wonders of the animal kingdom accessible to all
ZSL Special Children's Day is a unique event held at ZSL London Zoo developed for children with special needs and their families. The event attracted an additional 5,000 people to the Zoo on Saturday 18th May 2012.
We carried out evaluation using feedback questionnaires, an online survey and by placing Evaluation Officers at set locations on site using a variation of evaluation methods.
Results showed that there was wide appreciation of the lengths that we had gone through to put on such a unique day. 96% of adults & children stated they ‘liked it’ or ‘liked it a lot’ when asked ‘did they enjoy ZSL Special Children’s Day’. 92% rated the overall experience as either ‘good’ or ‘excellent’, and 88% rated the activities on offer as either ‘good’ or ‘excellent’.
The success of ZSL Special Children’s Day 2012 means we can continue to reach out and let these families experience the Zoo alongside other visitors. Without this unique day it would simply not be possible for many of them to do this, or to learn about all the wonderful animals and the work we do.
