BIAZA Photography Competition
BIAZA’s Annual Photography Contest showcases some of the incredible photographic talent and stunning photogenic subjects from across the BIAZA membership.
Photos must have been taken within the past two years. For categories 1-3, photos must have been taken by staff members or volunteers of a BIAZA member institution. Category 4 is open to the general public as well as staff/volunteers from BIAZA members. Categories 1-3 are not open to external professional photographers sub-contracted in to take pictures for a BIAZA member zoo or aquarium. The photo competition judges’ decision is final and no negotiations will be entered into. The photos will be judged on content, composition and image quality. This year’s photo competition is kindly being sponsored by Fordingbridge.
- Category 1: photographs illustrating ‘Life in a BIAZA collection’ that showcase plants and animals within our zoos and aquariums
- Category 2: photographs illustrating ‘Unseen efforts’ which can include any part of a BIAZA collection not seen by the general public
- Category 3: photographs capturing the ‘Weird and wonderful’ which showcase any non-mammal animals or plants from a BIAZA collection
- Category 4: photographs taken ‘In the moment’; those opportunistic but outstanding images can be captured on smartphones, which may be lower resolution than submissions for the other categories. This category is open to the general public and is not limited to BIAZA staff or volunteers
