Grab That Gap

Isle of Wight Zoo

We are excited to announce that we have now relaunched Grab That Gap 2020!

We are encouraging all BIAZA members to take up the challenge and transform an unused area of their site into a miniature wildlife haven! All those BIAZA collections which register will receive a free packet of wildflower seeds, kindly provided by Kew's Grow Wild Initiative.  We also hope to see other wildlife-friendly activities such as planting of other pollinator plants, bird seed plants, pots and planters, wildlife ponds, living walls, bird boxes, log piles, bug hotels or whatever features are appropriate for that space. For more ideas see The Wildlife Trusts' Actions to help wildlife. Advice and resources are available under the Campaign Resources Section of the Member's area of this website, once you've logged in. A mentoring service will be provided by our Native Species Working Group members for those who would like further support and advice.

Throughout the campaign we would like participants to share photos of the site prep, planting, ongoing management and end results via Facebook and Twitter, using the hashtag #GrabThatGap2020!
All those BIAZA collections who register for the campaign and share photos on their social media, tagging BIAZA and using the hashtag, will receive a Grab That Gap certificate and will be entered into a prize draw to win some exciting prizes (kindly funded by Lycetts) to help support further wildlife gardening efforts.

Prizes will be awarded in September 2020 so get registered by emailing [email protected]!
