The Aspinall Foundation has been involved in relocating, rescuing and rewilding over 1000 animals to different countries around the world. This includes Bison to Romania, Wolves to Portugal, Gorillas to Congo & Gabon, Javan Gibbons to Java, including many other species and countries.
The team at the Aspinall Foundation would like to share their experiences with the rest of the zoo community, with this 1-day conference. With more zoos looking to get involved in conservation projects around the world that are look to releasing captive bred animals back into their natural habitats. This conference would help share advise between different collections.
Topics Include:
- The importance of rewilding and the future in zoos.
- Rewilding Gorillas.
- Disease Risk Assessment.
- IUCN Guidelines.
- Rewilding Logistics.
- Javan Gibbons & Greater Bamboo Lemurs.
