Paignton Zoo
Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is one of Britain's top zoos. The 80 acres of naturalistic landscaped grounds are home to some of the planet's rarest and most amazing animals. Discover all your favourites, like gorillas and orang utans, black rhinos and giraffes, lions and tigers. And be ready for a few surprises along the way, too.
At Paignton Zoo the plants are as important as the animals. These were the first combined zoological and botanical gardens in the world. The grounds - arranged in habitat zones contain rare and unusual specimens throughout, including the tallest growing tree in the world - the coast redwood, and the fastest growing plant, the giant bamboo.
The Zoo has plenty to keep everyone going all day, with shops, restaurant, takeaway food outlets, indoor and outdoor play areas, a miniature train, a free bird show and the hands-on interactive Discovery Centre. The Zoo (a registered charity) has a long history of education, scientific research and practical conservation both at home and abroad.
