COVID-19 Update regarding research support applications:
Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic most BIAZA collections are currently closed to the public, with only essential animal care staff working to upkeep animal welfare. This means many collections will not have capacity to respond to research requests (including emailed questionnaires/ virtual interviews) at this time. With this mind we have currently suspended the Research Support Application process until there is a significant change in the situation which allows our members more capacity to be involved in research. Please check back here for any updates on when the process will reopen.
Researchers who are interested in collecting data across a number of BIAZA members can apply for BIAZA support. Successful applicants will receive a signed letter of support encouraging member collections to assist with their work wherever possible.
Zoos and aquariums are inundated with requests for assistance in a range of research projects. Staff time and resources are often very limited, so a BIAZA letter of research support will help collections identify those projects which will advance scientific knowledge in the relevant field, and will be of greatest value to the animals in their care and the wider zoo and aquarium community.
