Brought to you by three members of the BIAZA Research Committee, this workshop aims to provide some hints and tips on how to be open, honest and valid in key aspects of research design, execution and project management. How to be open and accessible with research data and findings, how to choose the most appropriate information when designing your project and when evaluating your results, and how to plan for challenges, confounds and other tricky situations when managing a research project.
Key points that will be covered:
Open Science
- Sharing data
- Positive examples of open science / open data
- Things to avoid and things to never do
Research credibility
- Planning and preparation to know your aims
- Correct use of literature / avoiding self plagiarism
- Being repeatable and supporting your predictions
Managing projects
- Challenges of multi-zoo studies
- Planning for extraneous variables in advance (as best you can!)
