Once again, Bournemouth Oceanarium has made a splash in the world of marine conservation and education—this time by taking home not one, but two prestigious awards at the Destination Management Board (DMB) Tourism Awards. Their dedication to protecting marine life and educating the public has earned them Silver in Education and Bronze in Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Practices—and we couldn’t be prouder to see their hard work recognised.
The Silver Education Award is a testament to the Oceanarium’s incredible efforts in inspiring the next generation of conservationists. Their interactive school programs, engaging daily talks and hands-on educational experiences make marine conservation accessible, exciting and unforgettable. Whether it’s a deep dive into ocean biodiversity or a closer look at the challenges facing marine ecosystems, the Oceanarium is making big waves in education—and ensuring that future generations fall in love with protecting our oceans.
Taking home the Bronze Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Award, the Oceanarium is proving that conservation isn’t just a buzzword—it’s at the heart of everything they do. Their partnerships with The Shark Trust’s ‘Big Shark Pledge,’ the Punta San Juan Program in Peru and the Marine Conservation Society showcase a real, tangible commitment to protecting marine life worldwide.
And let’s talk about their penguin adoption program—because it’s nothing short of brilliant. Since 2022, it has raised over £6,000, with 40% of profits supporting the conservation of Humboldt Penguins and Inca Terns. That’s what we call impact.
CuCo Creative x Bournemouth Oceanarium: A Partnership That Packs a Punch
At CuCo Creative, we don’t just talk about great design—we make it happen. And when it comes to the Bournemouth Oceanarium, we’ve been the creative force behind their bold, dynamic brand evolution.
From crafting brand-wide creative concepts to designing standout signage, promotional materials and interactive visitor maps, we’ve been there every step of the way—helping shape a vibrant, engaging and unforgettable brand experience.
One of our favourite projects? Designing the 25th Anniversary logo—a sleek yet playful tribute to the Oceanarium’s legacy. We wove aquatic hues and a fish motif into the number 25, visually celebrating their mission of marine conservation and public engagement. Oh and we added gold lettering because, let’s face it, milestones like this deserve to shine.
We’ve worked on high-impact marketing campaigns, press ads, bus wraps and VIP event invitations—like the Mexican-themed VIP launch event for their reptile exhibit, starring endangered Loggerhead Turtles and Mexican Crocodiles.
Then there’s the visitor map makeover—we ditched the basic, boring layout and created a vibrant, illustrated, child-friendly guide that makes exploring the Oceanarium even more fun. And let’s not forget the Shipwreck Display launch, where we developed an exciting, family-friendly creative direction that turned the attraction into a must-visit experience.
Overall, our designs have not only enhanced the Oceanarium's brand identity but have also contributed to increased visitor engagement and satisfaction. This partnership exemplifies how thoughtful design can elevate an organisation's impact, making marine conservation and education both accessible and engaging to a wider audience.
