Sea Life Adventure Wild is a family owned establishment looking to employ a Displays Supervisor to enhance our displays department by bringing their own experience from an already well developed career in the industry. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person with a positive work ethic who is willing to support our growth and development. The ideal candidate should be able to aid and guide the team to uphold the company mission statement “Sealife Adventure aims to create a fun, educational environment of excellent value for families of all ages”.

 

 

 

Supervisor role

The successful candidate will (after full training) be able to work across the five sections of the site. The role involves attending and contributing to staff, managerial, livestock and operational meetings so they can make suggestions and implement developmental plans to improve all aspects of animal husbandry throughout the collection. This will also allow the candidate to remain up to date with all changes to operations within the collection. This role also includes training zoo keeping staff, supervisory checks, opening and closing of the site as well as the day to day coordinating of the animal husbandry team when fulfilling the POR (person of responsibility) role.    

The candidate will be expected to both provide and ensure high standards of animal welfare throughout the collection, ensure all BIAZA guidelines are adhered to and have a good understanding of the secretary of state’s modern zoo licence practice. As well as complying with department policies in relation to administration and health & safety to ensure they are appropriately followed.

-          Time to complete all in house training required for day to day operations of the site.

-          Opportunity to attend leadership training sessions

-          Time and reasonable resources to attend CPD courses outside of the work place. 

Preferable:

·         Minimum 2 to years previous leadership experience in a zoological setting

·         Experience with zoo licencing paperwork and managing zoological records

·         Experienced in providing high levels of animal husbandry to a wide range of taxonomic groups (preferably at a zoo licenced site)

·         Experience medicating animals and familiarity with teleost and elasmobranch treatment plans

·         Experience using the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS)

·         Ability to carry out maintenance tasks

·         Skills in animal training and enrichment

·         Experience starting or participating in conservation projects

·         Experience in animal presenting
