Location:  ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

 

Overview of the Role

Supporting the Browse Operative and Browse Management Officer with the harvesting and collecting of browse for the distribution to animal sections at Whipsnade and London Zoos.

 

Key Responsibilities

Main duties will include:

  • Assist with the harvest, collection, and distribution of browse material to animal sections at both Zoos.
  • Assist with the waste management of spent browse.
  • Assist with record keeping of browse species suitability and deliveries.
  • Assist with planned preventative maintenance checks and other Health & Safety inspections of equipment.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a full clean driving license valid in the UK (Cat. B and above).
  • Have a reasonable level of plant identification skills.
  • Have a reasonable knowledge of toxic plants.
  • Have practical experience of working in horticulture or land-based management, ideally in a zoo; OR
  • Have practical animal experience (as a keeper, veterinarian etc.).
