We are delighted to be offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Bird Keeper to join our team.
Set within 26 acres of beautiful, landscaped gardens, Birdworld is one of the largest bird parks in the country and is home to a diverse collection of species. We are offering a unique career opportunity for a Senior Bird Keeper to join our expanding livestock teams.
Supporting the Aviculture Team Lead, you will be an important addition, offering guidance and supervision within the team, whilst focusing your time on the day-to-day husbandry of the diverse aviculture collection.
Successful candidate will:
· Assist the Team Lead in the implementation and development of all things relating to husbandry, diets and training plans within the Bird Team.
· Help supervise the Bird Team in the absence of the Team Lead.
· Hold an animal related qualification.
· Have minimum four years’ experience working within a recognised zoological collection, ideally specialising in birds.
· Experience in incubation and handrearing techniques, or with Penguin husbandry preferrable.
· Have strong communication skills and great time management.
· Have keen observation skills, basic maintenance skills, and be able to prioritise tasks and juggle responsibilities to ensure the highest standard of care for the collection.
· Enjoy, and demonstrate a passion for aviculture, offering exceptional and engaging experiences to our visitors.
· Enjoy working outside in all weathers.
This role offers:
· Full-time position, working 38 hours a week.
· Working with a wide range of fantastic species including penguins, hornbills, parrots, owls, cranes, flamingos and various softbills.
· Extensive in-house training as well as opportunities to develop and expand your skills in wider keeper programmes and workshops.
