Role Overview:
Blackpool Zoo is looking for an Experienced Animal Keeper to join our team and cover maternity leave for a period 9 – 12 months, the successful candidate will join our existing team of keepers assisting in the daily care and husbandry needs of our animals.
The zoo houses a wide range of species (please see our website http://www.blackpoolzoo.org.uk for more details) and the successful candidate will hopefully have experience caring for a variety of exotic mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily care and management of a specific section of the zoo, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animal health.
- Develop and implement enrichment programs to promote natural behaviours and enhance animal well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, health, and behaviour.
- Engage with the public through educational talks, demonstrations, and interactive experiences.
Requirements:
- You should possess the Diploma in The Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA) or an equivalent qualification
- A minimum of 3 years paid keeping experience is essential whilst any category 1 species experience would be desirable. You will need to be hard working, physically fit, enthusiastic, and reliable.
