Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre

Monkey World is currently home to over 230 primates of more than 25 different species. The majority of our primates are rescued from a variety of different backgrounds. Many have suffered years of abuse or neglect. On arrival at Monkey World these primates are rehabilitated into appropriate social groupings and provided with an environment and care which encourages natural behaviours.

Monkey World is looking for Primate Care Staff to join the team and support the Section Head and Deputy Section Head on our Capuchin and Orang-utan section. We have over 60 capuchin monkeys managed in five mixed sexed groups. Many of these monkeys were rescued from a biomedical laboratory in 2008 and were singly housed prior to their arrival and subsequent rehabilitation at Monkey World. The remaining individuals have been rescued from the pet trade.

Monkey World is currently home to 14 orang-utans, both Bornean and Sumatran, living in three groups. We are also the home to the European Orang-utan Crèche, where orphaned or abandoned orang-utans are sent to grow up with others of their own kind.
