We have two zoos at Tropical World, Roundhay Park and Wildlife World at Lotherton Hall each exhibiting exotic and tropical animal species. From Goeldi’s monkeys, Humboldt Penguins to Porcupines!
As a Zoo Education Officer you’ll thrive on the conservation and educational impact a zoo can positively exhibit. Developing and delivering workshop on subjects from ‘Plant Life Cycles’ to ‘Rainforests’ and ‘Habitats’. Providing varying depths of information and interpretation.
About you
As a Zoo Education Officer you will bring to the role:
- Enthusiasm to education a wide range of people about zoos and their benefits.
- Creation of exciting informative educational sessions for children using our National Curriculum. Child Friendly Leeds
- A good understanding of the ecological, biodiversity and broader conservation issues.
- Adaptability to changing situations.
About the role
This role is integral to our zoological attractions and helps us adhere to zoo licensing obligations by leading educational activities, workshops and initiatives to develop an enhance the visitor attraction at Leeds City Councils two major zoos at Tropical World and Lotherton Hall. As members of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) we can ensure a dedication to conserving the natural world through our conservation programmes and education, inspiring visitors to do the same.
As Zoo Education Officer you’ll work closely with the animal keeping teams across both sites, helping them to educate the next generation!
