We have an exciting opportunity for someone to volunteer alongside our Ectotherm Keeper team at Bristol Zoo Gardens!

This role is based at our Bristol Zoo Gardens site in Clifton in the Conservation Education Centre. Most of the work is based indoors, however outdoor work in all weather can be required, as well as moving and lifting relatively heavy objects.

Our Ectotherm Keeper Volunteers shadow and assist our Ectotherm Keepers on our Aquarium, Reptile and Invertebrate sections as well as assisting with some of our Education animals. The majority of our volunteers’ time is spent supporting the Aquarium and Invertebrate sections.

Species held on section:

Reptiles (blue tree monitors, pancake tortoises, snake species etc.)
Invertebrates (Desertas wolf spiders, Madeiran snails, Partula snails etc.)
Fish (range of critically endangered/extinct in the wild freshwater fish from around the world)
Mammals (rats, ferrets, chinchillas, etc.)

Day-to-day tasks:

Assisting with daily cleaning/husbandry.
Measuring and recording environmental parameters.
Food preparation.
