Vet Nurse

A fabulous opportunity to be part of our Zoo!  We need a knowledgeable and competent Vet Nurse to join us permanently here at Drayton Manor Resort being integral to the operation of our vet practice.  You’ll be fundamental to our Zoo operation assisting in animal care and treatment, clinical and diagnostic support, nursing and rehabilitation, animal welfare and the administration of record keeping.  As an employee you will enjoy extensive benefits, full support in your role and you will be joining Drayton Manor Resorts as we embark on the next chapter of our journey!

Your responsibilities as a Vet Nuse will include but not be limited to;

• Contributing towards evidenced led husbandry practices with a focus on maximising welfare outcomes for animals
• Assisting with the welfare evaluation of the zoos living collection
• Working with animal staff on safe and legally compliant animal capture, restraint and transport of zoo animals
• Administering drugs, anaesthetics and injections
• Preparation of animals for veterinary procedures and monitoring throughout
• Undertaking diagnostic tests
• Work to RCVS and BVNA policies and procedures as applicable to the role
• Maintaining CPD in line with RCVS requirements and maintain a record of relevant CPD
• Attending and contributing to relevant external conferences, workshops and meetings as agreed with your line manager
• Assisting with stock control and ordering of pharmaceuticals including controlled drugs and other veterinary consumables as required

 

Key Skills and attributes as a Vet Nurse

• Must posses a valid Veterinary Nurse (RCVS) Certification
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a vet nurse is desirable
• Understanding of regulations pertaining to the management of animals in the zoo
• Be experienced in the use of ZIMS
