All Things Wild is a thriving and successful zoo and family attraction on the edge of the Cotswolds, situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and easily accessible from a number of major cities. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Reptile and Small Mammal Keeper who, in conjunction with the management, can develop and expand the animal collection.
Our keepers work five days a week, including bank holidays and weekends. The successful applicant must have a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work, with a passion for the natural world and conservation. A good eye for detail and high standards in animal husbandry are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the zoo.
- Perform daily husbandry of animals, including feeding, cleaning, training, and record-keeping.
- Ensure the highest standards of animal welfare.
- Competently deliver talks and experiences to members of the public.
- Work effectively alongside a small team of keepers and volunteers.
- Maintain up-to-date records and relevant documentation.
Key Skills and Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years working with a range of animals, specifically reptiles and small mammals, within a zoological environment.
- DMZAA or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- Strong verbal communication and customer care skills.
- Confidence in delivering animal presentations and talks to visitors, as well as educational sessions for school groups.
- Excellent time management.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
- Full UK driving license due to location.
