Shift and schedule:    Monday to Friday / 37.5 hours per week (will need to be flexible)

Work Location:    Onsite, with willingness to travel

Role:    Due to an upcoming retirement, the Board of Trustees are recruiting an inspirational leader as its new Zoo Director.

The position as Senior Officer demands a high level of involvement in strategic decisionmaking, long-term financial planning, and corporate governance. Effective communication with a variety of stakeholders; including the Shareholder, the Board, and regulatory bodies will be critical. Applicants require dynamic leadership skills, with a perceptive commercial competence, who are able to persuade, empower and influence others.

This high-profile role provides a fantastic opportunity to guide the Company’s leadership team to deliver the second phase of the bold redevelopment plans for the animal and visitor facilities, along with the continued refurbishment of various onsite heritage assets.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

- Significant experience of inspirational senior leadership, with evidenced experience of leading cohesive and high-performing teams, ideally in the tourism and/or charity sector

- Background in the animal welfare sector, of risk management and fostering a safe working culture.

- Track record of leading teams and evaluation of management performance.

Evidence of personnel and operational management skills

Knowledge of setting and being responsible for departmental budgets, along with developing and maintaining profitable strategies.

Experience in locating and coordinating grant funding applications, associated project management and engagement outputs.

An appreciation of complex legislative implications on the operation of a multi-faceted leisure attraction.

Of pursuing marketing opportunities, leading interactions with the media and when required being the senior spokesperson for the organisation.

Qualifications within the animal care/tourism industry, and/or business management would be beneficial. However, we will also welcome candidates who have gained experience in senior management roles.
