Twycross Zoo is a fantastic conservation and education charity and historic organisation that has existed for 60 years. Key Objectives:
· To deliver all informal education activities.
· Support the Conservation Education Department to implement the zoo’s relevant strategies, with a focus on education and engagement for positive change.
· To educate visitors and drive engagement in the zoo’s ambition to actively contribute to species survival as part of the 2030 Conservation Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver informal education activities and presentations around the Twycross zoo site highlighting the conservation messages where appropriate.
· To staff exhibits and facilitate visitor engagement.
· Handle enquiries from visitors in a professional and timely manner.
· To assist in the delivery of booked educational programmes.
· To deliver booked educational clubs and appropriate experiences.
· Attend all relevant training needed to deliver experiences.
· To produce high quality resources for conservation education activities and events, including creating a schedule of activities and procurement of resources for educational clubs and activities.
· Deliver the key conservation education objectives in all areas of work.
· To help maintain conservation education buildings in a clean and tidy state.
· Ensure all Zoo procedures, protocols and rules are followed at all times.
· Support with the ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure that education activities contribute to TZ’s strategic conservation goals, adapting as necessary.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding.
· Ensure the department leads by example by adhering to and promoting TZ’s sustainability agenda.
Key Skills and Requirements:
· Zoo-related qualification at minimum of level 3.
· Ability to professionally cope with a variety of work and be flexible in approach.
· Has an outgoing and approachable personality with a confidence to talk to people.
· Display excellent presentation skills.
· Experience in presenting to large groups of people desirable.
· IT literate.
· Understanding and interest in wildlife conservation in relation to zoos is a must.
· Flexibility in working times and duties is a key requirement as the zoo is a popular leisure attraction run by an enthusiastic and devoted team.
· Excellent customer service skills with a willingness to aid in supporting our operations team when requested.
· Ability to obtain a satisfactory DBS check.
· As a team, we are all responsible for delivering an outstanding guest experience so you must be willing to provide operational support to any department as requested.
This role is for 15 hours per week including weekends
