Here at Chessington World of Adventures we are recruiting for a Education Officer to join our Zoo Education & Experience team!
We are looking for someone with a passion about education and conservation to join our team and help inspire the next generation of young learners! This exciting role offers the chance to deliver high-quality educational experiences, drive school visits, and engage students with the wonders of the natural world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive School Visits: Deliver and exceed both yield and volume targets for school party visits by creating, promoting, and delivering engaging, high-quality education and conservation offerings.
- Develop and Deliver Talks: Research, produce, and deliver engaging talks on a wide variety of subjects, updating them regularly to ensure relevancy and excitement for students of all ages.
- Oversee Workshops: Deliver educational workshop activities and engaging talks, providing memorable, hands-on learning experiences for school groups.
- Drive School Visit Volumes: Design and implement a compelling range of educational activities that will encourage schools to visit and engage with our offerings.
- Liaise with Schools & Colleges: Work closely with schools and colleges to assess their educational needs, adapt workshops as necessary, and bring in specialist staff to enhance the learning experience.
- Support the Zoo Team: During non-contact time, work alongside the zoo team to assist in running zoo operations, promoting conservation efforts, and supporting VIP activities.
- Enhance Zoo Education: Assist with contact areas, animal meet-and-greets, and outreach programs, strengthening the educational message and promoting awareness of conservation efforts.
- Be an Ambassador: Act as a key representative for Chessington World of Adventures Resort and Merlin Entertainments Group, establishing the resort’s educational credentials within the wider public and educational communities.
- Guest Satisfaction: Ensure the delivery of an exceptional educational offering, meeting guest satisfaction targets and creating memorable learning experiences.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in teaching or educational setting in any capacity
- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not required.
- A higher education qualification.
- A genuine interest in animals, conservation, and education.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
- Confident in delivering workshops and interactive sessions.
- A creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging and adaptable educational content.
- Strong organisational skills for managing multiple projects and administrative duties.
- Enthusiastic, engaging, and fun approach to working with children.
- A team player with the flexibility to contribute across the zoo operation.
