Job Summary
A fabulous opportunity to be part of our Zoo! We need an LVI Zookeeper to join us permanently here at Drayton Manor. You will be working in our LVI section which is extremely diverse covering over 50 species from Turquoise dwarf gecko to the Gila Monster.

Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring behaviour.
- Conduct health checks and report any signs of illness or distress to Zoo Management team and veterinary staff.
- Assist in the preparation and administration of medications as directed by veterinary professionals.
- Manage day to day duties relating to animal management, exhibit presentation and experience of guests directed by your seniors
- Follow and contribute towards evidence led husbandry practices as directed with a focus on maximising welfare outcome for animals
- Assist in the formulation, preparation and presentation of diets in line with zoo policy on nutrition
- Aid with the introduction and development of new and existing breeding programs
- Contribute towards a culture and practice of continual improvement of presentation and the environmental enrichment of exhibits
- Undertake health and safety training throughout your employment
- Interact with guests in a polite and professional manner
- Ensure that resources are used in an efficient and sustainable manner
- Undertake training in your area as per company procedures and standards
- Maintain accurate records of animal diets, health assessments, and behavioural observations.
- Participate in enrichment activities to promote natural behaviours among the animals.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high standards of animal welfare and facility cleanliness.
- Stay informed about current trends in animal husbandry and conservation efforts.
- This role requires a passion for wildlife conservation, strong observational skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in an outdoor environment.
