We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join the Healesville Sanctuary Life Sciences team. The incumbent will have skills in developing and maintaining positive and effective relationships in a dynamic zoo environment. You will be joining an experienced leadership team of six Life Sciences Managers and the General Manager Life Sciences, who work closely together to support each other to deliver the Life Sciences and property objectives at Healesville Sanctuary. The Life Science Managers are responsible for enabling team members to provide high quality animal care, supporting impactful visitor experiences, and creating a positive workplace culture. The Life Science Manager-Mammals leads the Mammal team, a team of keepers responsible for the care of native Australian wildlife including Koalas, Echidnas, Kangaroos, Tree Kangaroos and a range of nocturnal species.
The successful candidate will:

Have proven experience leading teams of operational staff, successfully developing and supporting individuals to achieve goals

Demonstrate a commitment to continuously improving workplace culture, including fostering a positive and inclusive work environment

Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills and creative approaches to problem solving

Demonstrate prior experience ensuring safe working environment are maintained and continuously improved
-
Have experience developing and implementing engaging animal visitor experiences

Possess a sound knowledge of animal welfare principles, and have proven experience ensuring animal's environments support their welfare needs
