Content Creator - Hertfordshire Zoo
(Permanent, Full-Time)

We’re looking for a creative, driven, and highly organised Content Creator to join the team supporting Hertfordshire Zoo. The role is central to the growth of our digital platforms and conservation storytelling. You will play a key part in capturing the daily life of the Zoo, our animals, our people, and our global conservation work, turning it into impactful content for social platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

The position will also involve working closely with the Whitnall family, including Ty, Aaron, and Cam, who feature in the CBBC show One Zoo Three and are active in promoting our conservation mission. You’ll be supporting them in creating engaging content that reflects both their work and the wider activities of the Zoo and Sanctuary.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities include:
    Content Production: Research, plan, film, and edit original photo and video content for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other channels.
    Digital Storytelling: Produce creative, engaging, and emotionally resonant content showcasing our animals, people, and conservation efforts.
    Trend Awareness: Stay up to date with social trends and pitch new ideas tailored to audience behaviour and platform algorithms.
    Content Strategy: Work with our Senior Content Creator on campaigns and posting strategies to grow engagement and audience reach.
    On-Location Coverage: Capture content at Hertfordshire Zoo and The Big Cat Sanctuary, including events, behind-the-scenes work, animal stories, and projects involving the Whitnall brothers.
    Content Library Management: Maintain an organised archive of video/photo content accessible to the wider media team.
    Occasional Travel: Support coverage of national or international conservation projects and events.

Who We’re Looking For:
    A natural storyteller with a passion for wildlife, people, and conservation
    Proficient in video shooting and editing, with strong social-first content skills
    Experienced with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, or similar editing tools
    Skilled with DSLR/mirrorless cameras for both still and moving image
    Confident in TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube formats and trends
    Organised, deadline-driven, and adaptable across multiple projects
    Able to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently
    Comfortable engaging with diverse people, including public figures, and filming in varied environments
    Full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential
    In line with the requirements of the Asylum & Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK or must obtain permits before application (documented evidence of eligibility will be required as part of the recruitment process)

Why Join Us?
    Be at the forefront of wildlife storytelling with a fast-growing online brand
    Help shape the future of conservation communication
    Opportunity to travel and be part of real-world conservation impact
    Work in a dynamic, passionate, and purpose-driven environment
    Travel opportunities (domestic and international)
    Unique opportunity to work with a zoo and sanctuary in a conservation setting
    Access to filming equipment and editing software
    Be part of a passionate, mission-driven team contributing to global wildlife conservation

What to Expect in the Role
    40 hours per week, 5 over 7 days; generally worked between 08.00–17.00, with evening and weekend work as required to cover events and deadlines
    Reporting directly to and assisting our Senior Content Creator with HZ's content strategy
    Includes regular weekend/Bank Holiday work (with the opportunity for overtime or TOIL)
    28 days paid holiday, plus Christmas Day off as standard
    Full uniform provided
    Access to Health Assured Employee Assistance Programme
    Staff discounts and other benefits, including free access to UK and European zoos and collections, regular team gatherings and celebrations, and a company Conservation Award (giving team members the chance to travel together to one of our supported global conservation project partners)
    As a growing organisation, there will be lots of opportunities for you to learn, develop and take on new challenges
    Start Date ASAP
