Zoo Ranger (Seasonal

Zoo Ranger Position - Seasonal

(average 40 hours per week)

Flamingo Land offers a theme park, zoo and holiday village ensuring that our visitors have a wide range of activities to engage with during their stay. We are a EAZA and WAZA member organisation and are committed to promoting conservation education amongst our guests.

We are looking for a new team member to assist in the delivery of both formal and informal education sessions. The role includes animal feeds and talks, teaching formal sessions, hosting animal walkthroughs, public engagement events, behind the scenes tours as well as some administration and planning. Basic animal husbandry is involved but it is primarily a public based education role.

Due to the nature of our business the successful candidate will be expected to work evenings, bank holidays and weekends as required. This position is subject to a DBS check. 

The successful candidate will have:

· A zoology degree or equivalent and a wide ranging knowledge about the natural world and animal behaviour

· Outstanding communication and presentation skills

· Ability to create resources and to use computer packages such as Microsoft Office and Canva 

· Excellent time management

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Passionate about the mission of zoos as centres of education and conservation

 

Desired, but not essential skills include:

· Experience working in informal education settings preferably a zoo or conservation organisation

·Experience delivering animal handling experiences

·Experience teaching a wide range of age groups

·Experience of basic animal husbandry

·Presenting/drama skills

·Full Valid Driving Licence
