A job with Merlin isn’t like a job anywhere else. With attractions around the world, from rollercoasters to wax figures, we don’t trade in suits, handshakes or briefcases. We trade in fun. In smiles, shrieks and spine-tingles. In Memories. In amazing discovery. In magic. But there are no tricks behind our magic. Instead, there are people like you. Passionate, dedicated people who are committed to making sure our worldwide attractions and guests’ experiences are the best they can be.
Due to continuing growth and development of Merlin’s attractions and brands on a global scale, we are looking for a Regional Head of CWE - UK to join our Conservation, Welfare & Education* team on a permanent basis. The role can be based at multiple SEA LIFE or Merlin sites in the UK, with a hybrid element for those looking for more flexibility.
You will partner with the General Managers, Business Unit Heads, Divisional Directors, the Brand and Curatorial teams to ensure the development and coordination of the essential expertise to maintain and develop world class, engaging and impactful aquarium displays, animal welfare and conservation and education programs, now and into the future.
You will ensure the UK's animal care protocols and programs meet and exceed Merlin's high standards, whilst utilising SEA LIFE Animal Ethical Sourcing principals to coordinate a one plan approach to the region’s aquarium displays and conservation/education programs.
You will build on the processes to share best practise across the UK ensuring the continually advancement of the aquarium displays, the foundation of inspiring and educating our guests.
You will also help develop curatorial teams, providing opportunities for collaboration and networking, identifying training needs and exploring ways to enhance our teams' knowledge. But that's not all, you will lead the regional implementation of strategies around conservation, education, research and breeding, and ensuring each sites' participation.
You will lead the development of excellent working relationships with local, national, and international governmental and non-governmental organisations, representative groups, and zoo and aquarium colleagues. Where practicable, you will seek accreditation to regional accreditation organisations, and ensure we meet all national and international licensing and permitting requirements.
