Here at Hertfordshire Zoo, we are excited to offer this opportunity for an experienced and reliable Building & Maintenance Operative to join our team. You may already be familiar with our wonderful zoo, the beautiful animals we house, and our amazing conservation work. The successful candidate will have previous experience in this type of role, ideally with a good mix of general maintenance skills, including electrical, plumbing or carpentry. A dynamic approach to work is necessary, as well as attention to detail and enthusiasm to learn and problem-solve. The right candidate would be friendly, energetic and happy to take on a variety of jobs around a large, diverse site.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of electrical, plumbing, carpentry or multi-trade experience
  • Self-motivated and able to manage own time
  • Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Reliable and hardworking
  • Awareness of Health & Safety practices

·         Existing Right to Work in the UK (British Citizen, Indefinite Leave to Remain, EEA Citizen with Settled Status or other valid Visa/Work Permit)

·         Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (as Hertfordshire Zoo is not accessible by public transport)

 

Working Conditions

•        Permanent, full-time position; 40 Hours per week, 08.00-17.00 or 09.00-18.00, 5 over 7 days, including at least one weekend day
