About The Role
WWT Slimbridge has the largest living collection of the charity’s centres, and we lead the way, bring life and inspire connection. This exciting opportunity has arisen to oversee our renowned ectotherm collection. Home to a large and diverse collection of amphibians, Toad Hall is a highlight for Slimbridge visitors and includes a large number of Caudata species, a substantial temperate collection and rarities such as Lake Titicaca frogs. Behind the scenes, the collection has a well maintained breeding facility where several unusual species are maintained.
The Ectotherm collection is key in delivering our wetland message and is a huge engagement asset in showcasing important wetland habitats.
This is a full time permanent position working 5 days out of 7 including weekends and bank holidays.
About You
The successful candidate will be passionate about the collection and will have a range of ectotherm experience but with a focus on amphibians. They will maintain and develop this unique and exciting collection, ensuring daily husbandry and a high level of welfare are provided. They will be enthusiastic and passionate about educating the public on the plight of amphibians and wetland habitats. You will be confident in supervising a small team including placements and volunteers, and work closely with other sections.
