Blackpool Zoo is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to become a full time Education Officer.

 

About Blackpool Zoo Education Department:

 

Our Education department is a vibrant, dynamic, and energetic space dedicated to providing positive visitor experiences paired with lasting educational interactions and memorable conservation messages. Our dedicated Education team work creatively and collaboratively to host multi-dimensional programs for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

 

Role Overview:

 

The Education Officer will be an individual who will be focused on engaging and inspiring visitors with animal and natural history information, along with key conservation and sustainability messages.

 

The role will include ensuring that education talks, workshops and programmes reflect the wider conservation landscape along with accurate and exciting information about the projects Blackpool Zoo supports. As a key member of the education team the role includes the delivery of the Wildlife Learning offering and animal interactions.

We are seeking energetic, creative and industrious individuals who have exemplary communication skills and the ability to interact and engage with visitors of all ages to support the delivery of our education programme.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Engaging with school groups, corporate teams, charities and other organisations to deliver educational workshops
  • Delivering talks and demonstrations to visitors
  • Communicating essential sustainability messages and engaging various stakeholders in this vital mission

 

Candidate requirements:

 

  • A good knowledge of conservation and zoo education
  • Excellent people skills, with a background in customer service or a similar field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be of an inclusive mindset and comfortable engaging with people from diverse background
