The Big Cat Sanctuary
Marketing and Events Internship
(6-12 month placement)
Home to nearly 50 cats, The Big Cat Sanctuary (BCS) is a breeding and conservation centre for both big and small cat species, based in Kent. Routinely, the BCS is not open to the general public and access is only granted through pre-booked events and experiences.
We are now recruiting for a voluntary internship of 6-12 months with our Marketing & Events team.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a dynamic and passionate individual eager to gain a broad understanding of marketing, events, and wildlife conservation. This role provides a unique chance to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios while making a tangible impact on our mission.
All internships are offered on a voluntary basis and are therefore unpaid. The placement hours are 08.00-17.00, 2-5 days a week. Please note, the Big Cat Sanctuary is not accessible by public transport.
Objectives & benefits of placement:
• To gain valuable hands-on experience in marketing, event planning, and wildlife conservation advocacy
• Mentorship from experienced professionals in the field
• Networking opportunities within the conservation and nonprofit sectors
• Flexible schedule to accommodate academic commitments
• Potential for academic credit, subject to university approval
• To apply own personal skills and improve upon them
Typical daily tasks may include:
• Marketing Support: Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote The Big Cat Sanctuary's mission, programs, and events
• Digital Engagement: Contribute to the daily running of our social media accounts, website content, email campaigns, and online advertising efforts to enhance brand visibility and engagement
• Content Creation: Support the creation of captivating content including videos, photos, blog posts, and newsletters to share the stories of our big cats and conservation efforts
• Event Assistance: Aid in planning, coordinating, and executing various events including fundraisers, educational workshops, tours, and special experiences for visitors
• Community Interaction: Engage with supporters, volunteers, and donors to foster a sense of community and advocacy for our cause
• Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with internal teams including animal care, education, and administration to ensure alignment of marketing efforts with organisational goals
• Data Analysis: Assist in tracking and analysing marketing metrics, event attendance, and audience feedback to evaluate effectiveness and inform future strategies
Essential Requirements:
• 18+ years old
• Able to work as part of a team and independently
