About The Role
At WWT our people are instrumental, and we want to inspire future conservationists to help lead the way. As part of out early careers programme, we are thrilled to offer another year of paid student placements. These specific roles are designed to provide experience and skills development to aid students on their journey into their chosen career paths.
We have Practical Reserves placement opportunities at Arundel, Caerlaverock, Castle Espie, Llanelli, London, Martin Mere and Slimbridge.
As a Practical Reserves student placement you will gain a range of experiences throughout your 12-month placement including:
- Extensive training that includes nationally recognised qualifications.
- Experience of working in a team with knowledgeable and passionate staff.
- Gaining practical skills and collaborative experiences when working with a range of stakeholders including staff, volunteers and visitors.
- Knowledge of how wetland conservation is managed on a day-to-day basis as well as long term planning.

This is a full time, fixed term contract for 12 months, working 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 including some weekends and bank holidays.
About You
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Ideally someone who is undertaking a placement year or has recently finished their studies.
- Passionate about the world of conservation and the importance of making a difference for future generations.
- Able to work cohesively within a team whilst still undertaking tasks independently when required.
- Able to be proactive and reactive. No two days are the same and colleagues may have to react quickly to situations outside of their control.
