BIAZA’s Aquarium Working group is one of 6 taxon working groups which sits within the BIAZA Species Advisory Committee.
Pre-requisites of membership
- Must be an employee of a BIAZA member organisation. (Applications from non-BIAZA members may be considered on a co-opted basis with annual review).
- Must have institutional support to carry out the role and attend meetings.
- Must be voted in by existing members of the AqWG with support from the BIAZA Office.
Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in AqWG meetings (usually min 3 virtual meetings every year).
- Assist in the planning of, and participate in the annual National Aquarium Conference wherever possible.
- Support the AqWG in responding to BIAZA’s aquatic related queries from students, public and other organisations, commenting on official documentation including advice to or from DEFRA and advise BIAZA on relevant and topical subjects when requested.
- Assist the AqWG in supporting other aquariums where advice is being sought (e.g. guidance during membership applications, assistance for struggling organisations).
- Help disseminate applicable information through the appropriate channels, including the AqWG Facebook page.
- Keep in regular contact with the Chair for updates.[email protected]
