The main purpose of your role as Head Aquarist is to manage the day to day running of the aquarium. Development of new displays and the developent of education programs for the aquarium.
Your main duties will include but are not limiited to
Responsability for the running of the aquarium tanks and systems. This includes keeping the aquarium clean and hygienic.
To comply with all health & safery standards and the filing of all reports required.
Work within budgets to maintain and upkeep levels of fish stock and fish procurement
Maintain up to date tank information on each display.
Monitoring of tanks and equipment
Dealing with alarm issues of tanks which may arise during work or after work
Dealing with the health issues of fish
Reports for BIAZA, Zoo license Inspections and any other body to be put together when neccessary.
Attend meetings with regards, education, conservation and to develop further the education and conservation program
Regular reporting to the Manager with regards fish and tank upkeep and development.
Training of all staff on tank information as well as upkeep and maintanence to be carried out.
