Animal Keeper

Working hands-on as part of a team to ensure the health, welfare, and enrichment of a wide range of species a combination of birds and mammals, while contributing to the day-to-day running of one of Leeds’ most popular wildlife attractions.

As our new Animal Keeper, you’ll be involved in all aspects of animal husbandry, from feeding and enclosure cleaning to health checks, enrichment, and behavioural observation. You’ll also play an active role in public engagement—delivering keeper talks and helping visitors connect with our animals and conservation work.

You’ll work as part of a dedicated animal team, supporting breeding programmes, maintaining accurate records (including ZIMS), and helping to ensure that enclosures are safe, secure, and stimulating. This is a varied, outdoor role that offers hands-on experience with a wide range of species, the chance to contribute to meaningful conservation, and the opportunity to develop your skills as part of a supportive and passionate team and a newly developing collection.
