Animal Keeper - Herpetology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Animal Keeper to join our Herps team on a full-time basis.

 

We are looking for candidates with a strong understanding of natural history and biology, and who can apply this to lower vertebrate and invertebrate husbandry and welfare practices.

 

This post offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a variety of species such as prehensile tailed skink, Burmese black tortoise, crocodile monitor and more. The post also entails working on conservation programmes for sand lizard, white-clawed crayfish and Partula snails.

 

The successful candidate will have a background in managing naturalistic, planted exhibits that promote natural behaviours and high-quality guest experience. Knowledge of life support system technologies is essential, and any additional technical aptitude in other disciplines would be beneficial.

 

Strong communication skills, teamwork and creative thinking are key to this position. In this role you will support the senior keeper and team leader, plus other teams in the organisation as required.
