Senior Working Keeper

There is currently one permanent, full-time post.

To be responsible to the Curators for provision of the operational support required to deliver the corporate and departmental objectives of the zoological gardens and other facilities. Assisting the Curators to manage the Zoo premises and activities required by regulation and legislation to develop the service to its full potential. To assist with the delivery of operational objectives of a business plan by the effective and efficient management of resources and be responsible for: Motivating and managing assigned staff in an efficient and effective manner; Assisting to manage all health and safety requirements; Assisting to ensure the cleanliness, safe condition and maintenance of all designated areas; Delivering a quality service to agreed standards including the Council’s Customer Complaints Procedure, Human Resources and Financial Procedures; The general welfare and husbandry of Zoo animals within designated areas; Acting as a single point of accountability within all areas and provide cover during periods of absence of colleagues; and Acting as a Duty Officer including opening/closing facilities when required.
