We have a very exciting position that has opened up at Ponderosa Zoo! We are looking for a full time zookeeper to join the team here in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire. We are a small collection, housing just over 100 animals, ranging from ring-tailed lemurs to reindeer. We are continually evolving so it is an exciting time to join our team!
The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily husbandry of our mammal and reptile species, however full training will be given. The successful candidate will also be confident when interacting with customers as this role involves delivering animal talks, educational workshops and conducting animal experiences. As we are a small team, you should also expect to assist in a range of other tasks such as litter picking, car park duty and grounds maintenance tasks when necessary.
We are asking for at least 1 years’ of experience working in a zoo environment as well as an animal related qualification, either DMZAA or equivalent. Good time keeping, a positive attitude and being a team player are essential to this role. The role is physically demanding so you must be physically fit to effectively carry out the zoo keeping tasks.
A full UK’s driver’s license is essential.
The hours are full time at 37.5 hours per week, at minimum wage.
