The Big Cat Sanctuary is seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resources Manager to lead and develop our HR function. This highly visible role combines HR leadership with senior team support, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact within a unique conservation environment. You will shape the employee experience, ensure legal compliance, strengthen people processes, and support the Senior Leadership Team in fostering a high-performing, values-led culture.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, performance, employee relations, and exit processes
  • Provide guidance to managers on HR policies, employment law, and best practice
  • Oversee sickness, capability, disciplinary, and grievance procedures
  • Maintain HR records, systems, and compliance with employment legislation
  • Coordinate staff training and development
  • Develop initiatives to enhance morale, engagement, and retention
  • Champion wellbeing and positive workplace culture
  • Act as minute-taker for key internal meetings

What we’re looking for:

  • Experienced HR professional confident in operational and advisory roles
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and administrative skills
  • Resilient, discreet, and solutions-focused, with the ability to manage complex employee relations

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Outlook
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK
