CONTEXT:  

This is a voluntary post for which you must have institutional support and be a staff member at a BIAZA full member. The post is within the Social Media Working Group (SMWG) which is part of The British & Irish Association of Zoos & Aquariums’ (BIAZA) Communications Working Group (CWG). Group members are welcome from any staff department at BIAZA members who have interest or experience in social media.  

ROLE SUMMARY:

To support the BIAZA Social Media Working Group to encourage best practice in social media across the BIAZA membership through a range of projects, such as guidance documents and webinars.  

Members of the group are expected to attend 1hr meetings held once every two months, and commit time in helping produce group resources.   

Examples of SMWG output includes: webinar series (e.g. Advertising on TikTok, Instagram for zoos and aquariums) and producing resources for membership (e.g. guidance for communicating conservation effectively on social media), and delivering presentations at the BIAZA Communications Conference. 

Details: 

  • Members will work with the wider group and relevant BIAZA staff to keep updated on good practice in respect to social media, and help champion and communicate this to BIAZA members. 
  • A key aim of the group members is to assist in developing BIAZA social media relevant resources and take part in discussions around these.
  • Group members will take an active role in answering enquiries about social media from the sector as appropriate. 
  • Group members will help to deliver the BIAZA strategy through supporting the aims of the Mission Enabling Committee. 
  • Group members will play an active role in determining the future direction & development of the working group.
