Mammal Intern keeper

Location: Millets Wildside, OX135HB
Position: Full-Time

Millets Wildlife Park is seeking a motivated individual to assist the mammal team with the care of animals under their section. This is an exciting opportunity to work and develop with a range of mammalian and other species

About the Role

The successful candidate will be involved within the daily care, training, and welfare of a variety of mammalian species and other species which may include avian, reptilian, invertebrates, aquaria.

Working as part of a dedicated animal team, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of husbandry and presenting educational demonstrations that inspire our visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily care and husbandry of a range of zoological species
  • Preparation and distribution of diets.
  • Monitoring animal health, behaviour, and welfare, reporting any concerns promptly.
  • Maintaining enclosures, equipment, and associated facilities to a high standard.
  • Participation within educational presentations, experiences and other keeper talks
  • Assisting with enrichment programmes to promote positive welfare
  • Maintaining accurate animal records and training logs
  • Supporting conservation, education, and public engagement initiatives

What we are looking for

  • Experience within animal husbandry and a passion for animal welfare
  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of animal care.
  • Confident, personable, and professional manner when interacting with visitors.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, flexible, and willing to work weekends, bank holidays, and busy seasonal periods.
