Halesowen College is proud to offer a sector-leading animal care facility where high standards of animal welfare sit at the heart of everything we do. Our animal unit provides students with an inspiring, hands-on learning environment and gives them the opportunity to develop the practical skills, confidence and professional behaviours needed for successful careers in the animal care sector.
As our student numbers continue to grow, we are looking to appoint a full-time Animal Care Technician. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong animal husbandry skills, a working knowledge of a broad range of taxa, and a particular interest and experience in small mammals.
The successful candidate will be proactive, confident working under their own initiative, and able to respond effectively to the day-to-day needs of a busy animal unit. They will be expected to contribute positively to problem solving, animal care routines, student learning and the smooth running of the facility.
If appointed, you will play an active role in developing the animal unit and supporting its diverse collection of species. Working closely with the Animal Unit Manager, you will help to maintain and advance best practice, ensuring that animal welfare, student experience and professional standards remain at the forefront of the department’s work.
Animal Care Technicians are required to work weekends and holidays on a rota basis. Weekend working will be compensated with time off in lieu during the same working week.
