Wolds Wildlife Park have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Small Mammal/Primate keeper to join our small team! You will work 40 hours per week over 5 days including weekends and bank holidays.
Job Summary –
This is a hands-on, physical role suited to someone with a passion for Small Mammals & Primate species. You’ll be responsible for the daily husbandry of a variety of exotic species. You will also play an important role in enclosure maintenance, record-keeping, enrichment and public education. You may be needed to assist on the other sections at the park so flexibility would be essential for this role.
Responsibilities –
· Provide excellent husbandry standards and welfare to the Small Mammal & Primate section within the park.
· Ensure all animals receive appropriate daily care, nutrition and enrichment.
· Monitoring health and behaviours, administering medications under veterinary guidance.
· Collect and record detailed and accurate animal records.
· Engage with visitors on site, which will include delivering or assisting with animal talks and public experiences.
Key Attributes –
Technical & Professional Requirements
· 2 years paid experience working with Small Mammals & Primate species in a zoo or similar environment.
· Relevant animal management qualifications or DMZAA
· Knowledge of ZIMS
· High standards of practical skills in animal husbandry, including training and enrichment.
· Ability to maintain detailed records of animal care and welfare.
Personal Skills
· Reliable and able to work well in a small team
· Flexible and adaptable
· Excellent punctuality and time keeping
· Hard working and highly motivated.
· Full driving license
